Golden Gardens Park

Critical Mass ride ended at Golden Gardens Park. The weather was fantastic and there were easily 600 riders.

Port of Seattle

A gorgeous evening in the Port of Seattle. This shot was taken from SW Spokane looking North toward the cityscape. I think it's a pretty encompassing shot of "Seattle-Nature."

Kaisa

The cat that lives in the apartment. I asked around, and I'm not sure it actually belongs to anyone that lives here.

Great Day on Lake Union

The weather was absolutely brilliant today. Wish there were more days like this; although it would likely triple the population here. Great game of capture the flag going on in the background. How come we don't play freeze tag anymore?

Japanese Garden

Went to the Japanese Garden tonight, and didn't have the $5 to get in... So I walked a trail around the perimeter and still got a good glimpse at the garden. Looks worth the price of admission.

Kite Shop

In Wallingford, just north of Lake Union on Stone Way North is a shop called Gas Works Kite Shop. The two women working the shop are high-energy, extremely knowledgeable of their products, and happy to help. The shop sells kites from $4 to $100, and also carries a wide variety of fun new and older-designed toys. Looking to play and need a new, and relatively inexpensive, toy? Check out this shop.

Ride in Silence, Part II

Another pic from the Ride in Silence. Despite the gray skies, weather stayed pretty warm. Even had a couple of hand-cyclists out for the ride. Can't wait for Critical Mass next Friday.

Ride in Silence, Part II

Today was the Ride in Silence. In Seattle, it was performed by about 80 cyclists (by my personal estimate), and went in a 10-mile loop around Lake Union. The ride was cheered on by quite a few folks, occasionally joined by commuters downtown, and given a thanks by at least one teary bystander.

Sunny in Seattle

Winter is finally waning and we are starting to get more and more sunny days around here. Can't wait till the water warms up for some swimming and playing in the lakes. This shot is at the corner of 5th Avenue and South Weller Street.

A Room with a View

A shot from the window of my new room. This is looking North-West toward the Sound from South Seattle. To the left of the viewable space of this photo I also get a nice view of two large stadiums and SoDo.

Bridgestone Day

I ride an old school bike of considerable quality and cult following: a Bridgestone RB-2. I love the Bridgestone bikes made in the USA during the 80s and 90s and have a few in my collection. They have quite a cult following among Bridgestone lovers, but still I rarely see them out and about. Today, coming out of the REI flagship store, my bike was accompanied in the rack by an RB-1 and an MB-4. Pretty cool.

Climbing Indoors

I went to REI's flagship store downtown today. This place is huge. And to top it off, they have a rock climbing wall indoors inside of the store. Pretty cool, but this made me stop and consider the paradox of the place: Seattle weather creates some need for synthetic indoor exercise, while being a place in easy reach and access to so many great opportunities for real outdoor activity.

Archie McPhee Finger Puppets

The store front on the Archie McPhee toy store featured window paintings of those awesome little finger puppet monsters we had as kids.

There's a Hare in My Graffiti...

In West Seattle, off of California Ave there is a coffee shop called Freshy's across the street from the public school and community center. On the concrete retaining wall that holds the school yard in was this peculiar little piece of graffiti art.
